Fashion Tip Friday ~
A Mirror fast.I read it about it on two different blogs a couple months ago
and have been thinking about it ever since. One girl gave up mirrors for a month.
{with the exception of a 2in. by 2in. mirror for applying make-up each morning}She said it was so freeing not worrying about what she looked like.
She said she was more focused on her day and thought more clearly.I suppose it would help to take the focus off of ourselves.
I don’t know if I could do it though. What if a piece of hair was sticking way up?
and I could never trust my husband’s answer with his love blinders on if I were to ask “Do I look okay?”
…could any woman really? So what do you think?
Could you do it? Could you go a while without looking into mirror?Enjoy your weekend.
We have a bonfire with our homeschool group tonight. The kids are so excited.
My sisters and I are singing tomorrow at a fall festival.Happy Friday.

I think it’s possible that i might just end up spending more time wondering what I actually look like WITHOUT a mirror, than with one. I just might…
Ha, having lived in all male households for so long, I would say I NEED a mirror. Just as you said, I will catch a glimpse of me in a mirror and say, “how long has my hair been sticking out like that?” All I get is a shrug. BTW- Pulling readers on and off all day is not good for hair. It is usually mirrors out in public that catch me unawares, I think I looked better at home! But that is probably because when I check out my outfit at home I always have good posture and haven’t gotten mussed up at all
Have fun this weekend!!
yeah there’s no checks and balances here with all the boys. I need the mirror just to check to see what I look like, ha! And my hair is unruly. I truly couldn’t go out without checking it. I actually don’t spend lots of time in front of the mirror so I don’t know that I’d really need it other than when I’m about to leave in the morning. It’s an interesting idea though.
I’m the opposite, I usually don’t look in the mirror! Except for Sunday morning when I get ready for church. Actually, I should probably look in the mirror more. I’m in that stay at home mommy slump – hair up, comfy clothes and no makeup. Unless you count the carmex on my lips
I could go without a mirror IF I knew no stray chin hairs were going to sneak out when I’m not looking. Just can’t take that chance.:)
it seems when i was younger i looked in the mirror way more throughout a day to check things.. now, i’m surprised how many days i just seem to forget. not looking {like really looking} in the mirror until i’m brushing my teeth that night and be like, “yikes! have i looked this way all day??” i just feel too busy now to care as much. and.. with three girls, there’s always someone else’s hair to do and clothes to fool with. ha! but i do love that occasional time when i can sit on the floor in front of my floor length mirror and just LEISURELY get ready and take my time! so nice.
what does that big pink bag say? don’t know if it’s blurry or my eyes are just too tired to focus.
lovely weekend to you too, sweet friend. xo
ps. have someone video you and your sisters singing tomorrow!!
I do not think I could go without a mirror. Not because I obsessively check myself out, but its how I make sure I don’t have food on my face or hair weird-ness throughout the day! But I would be interested if you did the challenge…to see how it goes!
I try not to look into a mirror for obvious reasons: i.e. my hair makes it look like my head has exploded, or a cat is sat on my head and is trying to eat me from the ears down
great idea.nice story
Naw I like to know things look ok on me. But do agree with not being overly critical of ourselves though
I have alot of mirrors in my house to reflect light and make it feel bigger. HowEVer, I despise looking in the mirror except for fixing my hair and I use my 7x magnified mirror for applying and yanking those pesky chin hairs. At the little gym where I workout, there’s a mirrored wall. My friend/trainer has to force me to look in the mirror so that I can see my form. There were times when I started to cry because I hated the way I looked. Now, I don’t cry, but I still don’t like to look! So, other than hair and makeup application, I can live the rest of my life without ever checking a mirror.
Ya know? I think if I had the little 2 inch makeup mirror I could do it! : ) Most of my clothing….I know how things look together so I *think* I would be okay. But the thought of not being tempted to check my hair, shiny nose, lipstick etc. when passing by a mirror would be rather liberating indeed.
Bless your Sunday eve!
in-ter-esting. i feel like i would be kind of paranoid of what i might look like if i did not have a mirror to look in occasionally. but, then again….what if i was blind and didn’t ever know? or, could i really trust those around me to tell me if something was ‘wrong’ with my appearance? and, truly, it might not be all bad for me to have to take Tim’s word on my appearance; i’m not always pleased with the image i see and yet he tells me all the time ‘if you could see what i see’. (in fact, he sang me that Geoff Moore song at our wedding! ♥)
Well, I would gladly fast from that older woman who is in my mirror, imposter that she is. I’ve asked around and no one seems to know where she
came from. We might be related because she seems to resemble my mother. An older aunt perhaps! Hmmmm.
Loved the bonfire and spending time with everyone. We really enjoyed the singing with everyone. I always enjoy time spent with your Momma, she blesses me with her wisdom and her friendship.
