I need you because….
…you are a good tomato picker.
…you can lift heavy crates I can’t lift on my own.
…you make me feel like everything is going to be okay when I think it’s not.
…you make the best smoothies.
…you give fantastic kisses.
…you are a great book suggester.
…you listen when I need to complain. (and don’t complain about my complaining
…you make the best tirimisu.
…you know how to fix my computer when I mess it all up.
…you remind me to be thankful.
…you tell me I do a good job.
…you bought me shoes for no reason.
…you go out of your way to help.
…you always obey cheerfully.
…you are willing to give anything to anyone at anytime.
…you make me laugh when I think of all your quirky creativeness.
…you bought me coffee.
{photo by Alex ~ who happens to be celebrating his 13th birthday today}Actions speak louder than words….but words still speak.
and sometimes it’s nice to hear them.Do the people around you know the reason you need them in your life?
When people feel UN-needed, when they feel they have no purpose…
they become UN-motivated and discouraged.Give the people around you purpose. Make them motivated to be the best they can be.
It doesn’t have to be a big ordeal….just a simple “You’re the master spider killer. Best I’ve ever seen!”
{Five year old boys go gaga over compliments like that.}Encourage someone in your life on this September Monday.
Happy Day to you.

words ARE powerful. as a mommy that is spending all day every day with my kids… i need to be reminded of this over and over again. thanks for this reminder today!
I thought at first this was about your husband. The line “you always obey cheerfully” was interesting in that context.
You have great kids, and are right to be proud of them.
Great advice. Love it.
@Roadkill_Spatula - Actually….I was thinking of a few people as I wrote it all out.

i need you because you give me hope for humanity
Just the reminder I needed.
Spent the weekend away with some men from the church and that was really my takeaway. A little encouragement will do amazing things in a person’s life; specifically when the encouragement comes from Daddy (or either parent for that matter)
happy birthday alex! and this sounds like beauty advice,
because the most beautiful people i know speak uplifting and encouraging words…just.like.yours. great post!
