There has been talk in the past, but we just never did it.
The conditions were perfect. just perfect.
a farm nearby. Jeff home for the day. sixty-two degrees outside.sunshine. (in late November!)
After a while of searching, Tyler found exactly what we were looking for.
….and for the very first time, we cut down our own Christmas tree.
So much fun.Why didn’t we do this a long time ago?
Like 16 Christmas trees ago!
Happy Monday.

CUTE! Congrats on cutting your own tree!
i just love you guys.
sounds like you got yourselves a new Christmas tradition!
♥
Looks like lots of fun!!
Fun.fun.
but what I really want to know
who got “cheated” out of the Christmas tree date with dad?
or am I totally confusing that tradition with someone else who that does that…
@celebration_of_life - Haha. Yes, that was actually brought up. It was our oldest son’s turn this year. The kids said that they would much rather cut one down than go alone. Funny you remembered.
what type of animal is that?
@Elizabethmarie_1 - well then everyone’s had their turn:) love fresh Christmas trees even though the fake one wins out for practicality in our itty bitty house:)
How fun! Love the pictures and the smell of a fresh cut Christmas Tree.
We have cut ours down before and made the mistake of not having one of those machines shake it out before we brought it home. This equaled hundreds of little spiders crawling throughout our living room for the rest of the winter. I am sure yours is bug and spider free but just in case you have a few little visitors they might be from the fresh tree
Oh how fun, and I imagine it smells fantastic!
I loved this and especially the last photo–very nice to see–so much love felt.
Love it!!
Love this! I’ve always wanted to do that! :)
Well it sounds like you and Amber are switching off on the christmas tree thing
Hopefully you’re having better luck than she did over all her years of having a real one
Fun pictures!
LOVE this post! We always get a live tree, but sometimes we cut it and sometimes we buy it from the fire department.
The pictures are especially beautiful, I love every one.
Merry Christmas!
Love it
I especially love that last picture. I can’t wait to take Zalen to go get ours. I wonder what he will think about us putting a tree in our house?! I always look forward to trekking through and getting the “perfect” tree.
@redladybug18 - Haha, yes! We’ve always had a real tree…but never cut it ourselves. I thought of Amber actually when we went out to get our tree. I was telling Jeff about their tree saga! So funny.
great post : )

all required things to make it a more enjoyable family experience when going to cut your own!
so glad your story went differently from ours.
knowing me though, i’ll being doing the live one again one of these years~
after my kids have forgotten the unpleasantness of last year.
now, just don’t put yours too close to the wood stove!! haha.
happy start to a wonderful holiday season nye family. xo
YAY! We did that a couple of times, and there is nothing like it… the whole experience of going out into the wild and searching for just the right one and hauling it home on the top of the car (a 2 hr drive), then bringing it into the house with all its piney, fresh glory. It was an invigorating experience, as I’m thinking yours was, too! Is that toothy animal a reindeer or a llama? That picture made me laugh!
Looks like so much fun. We are talking about doing the same, and you may have given me the inspiration I needed. Blessings and happy Friday!!! ~Deborah
