Get outside and run you crazy kids.
My friend posted a link to THIS article a couple of weeks ago on facebook.
I found it fascinating and completely agree. We homeschool, so my kids don’t have a morning commute besides
bedroom to dining room to school room. However, no matter the weather or time of year, they run and play outside each and everyday.
I think it is so important for them to get fresh air and exercise.Just a little bit of outside time makes the world of a difference!
Even for adults, a walk in the cold air can make you feel more awake and focused.{my son’s attempt at taking our picture…my daughter looks like she’s in pain!
Me and my big mouth are yelling to someone..at least my little neighbor boy is smiling. Ha!}We’ve been having a day of rain, snow the next, then rain, then freezing rain,
which leads to front lawn ice rinks. Hockey’s been going on all afternoon.Hope your week is going well.
It’s almost, almost the weekend! (sort of =)

We always had very active breaks as well. After reading this study, I would say we should have had a run before school! By the end of the morning I was always asking the big brothers, “who wants to take the Bubba for a run” (David was very active and bouncy). They often included him in street hockey. He was the goalie! Happy days.
i’m totally agreeing. haven’t read the link yet but amening what you wrote.
i love what the out of doors does for my kids… and their mother too.
i love your hair. just love it. it’s gorgeous. any way you do it.
but i always do a double take when it’s straight!
My friend substitute teaches at our local public school. We’ve had tons of rain lately. She said that more kids get in trouble on the days they can’t go on the playground. I’ve had my little guy to stand up and do jumping jacks or run in place during a lesson before. lol But the BEST days are play outside days.
wait, is that the outside of your house?? lovely!
@fruitloops115 - Thank you, yes it is.
i think your house looks so pretty! all that i can see in the picture anyway! and, the picture of you and the kids is great! love your coat too!
i agree with you; fresh air is just so good for us all! i’m so glad my kids get out everyday too. i try to at least once a day and for sure every other day.
yes, glad it’s almost the weekend here too!
hugs!
Fun in the sun in the snow!! What a great way for the kids to spend some time during the day!
i agree, it does kids a world of good to get outside every day. it’s hard, here, because it’s often so rainy and muddy and cold, but when the girls do go out, they are often much happier and focused.
I want to come play hockey!!! Puh-leaze. We never got our hockey game in this year. We had one weekend where it was cold enough and the pond thick enough and my kids were sick. Last year it was so warm it never froze deep enough. I went out yesterday to gather some pine cones before it snowed for the shower and it was cold… but refreshing
My goodness, but what a GORGEOUS house!! It looks SO perfect and cozy with the snow too!
I can’t wait to move next door.
And I didn’t read the article yet either, but I am amening and agreeing with Cindy up there.
Outdoors is just so good for kids and their health- and even their attitudes.
Xoxo
I love the candid shot with you in it! Very nice and I totally agree with you. Get the kids outside no matter what!!
Happy Thursday!
Amen! My one son is NOT fun to be around evenings if he didn’t get outside that day. There’s just TOO much energy stored up inside of him.
wow, y’all sure have a lot of snow there! Looks like mighty fun breaks that y’all are having
Even though I would love that much snow I’d probably freeze myself to death
Yes, gotta get those kids outside and running off the energy. Otherwise they’ll roll from room to room scuffling with each other and breaking stuff. HA
Frozen lawns are the BEST!!! One year we had that and the kids aged hockey for hours. Another year put pool broke so we emptied it almost all the way except for the last 1 foot of water… It froze and the kids skated on there all winter!!!
this makes me think of that song… “get up off of your seat. dance dance…”
)
you’re adorable in your hat and mitts…
who’s to say you can’t look fashionable while you play!!
love it.
Nice to ‘meet’ you. I’m commenting because I just linked here from grace_to_be and I noticed you homeschool and love Jesus. Me, too! Me, too! <3
